The Fix-It Program goal is to assist elderly residents of Ocean County to remain independent in their own home by performing minor home repairs which, if neglected, would adversely affect their health and/or safety. Services are provided by volunteer handy persons who perform household repairs and one time chores at no cost to the elderly resident. However, the elderly resident is expected to pay for materials, if necessary. Fix-It Program volunteers do minor plumbing, minor carpentry, minor electrical, install safety hand rails, install curtain and drapery hardware, change light bulbs, replace batteries in smoke detectors, change storm windows and doors. The volunteers do the same work they would normally do around their own homes, nothing more. We are always seeking volunteers with varying levels of skills. If you are looking for a rewarding way to give back to those most in need, we have the job for you. Contact us to chat about the opportunity. We need your help.
