The organization began 30 years ago and is modeled on the concept of inter-faith volunteer caregiving: "neighbors helping neighbors". Eight clergy in the Toms River area formed a coalition of their congregations to work together to provide basic services to the frail homebound elderly in the area. They secured non-profit status and a NJ Charities Registration and opened their first office in Beachwood in 1993. Since that time, our service reach in Ocean County has expanded west to Whiting and Jackson; north to Point Pleasant Beach including the barrier island; south to Lacey Township. In Monmouth County, we have coverage in Howell, Freehold, Marlboro, Manalapan, Wall, Tinton Falls, Neptune, Belmar, Manasquan, Brielle, Spring Lake, and Spring Lake Heights. Volunteers are recruited through a network of churches, synagogues, civic and service groups, schools and youth organizations. Over the past 25 years volunteers have provided over 300,000 hours of help to over 10,000 seniors.
