Who We Are
The Arc, Ocean County Chapter was founded in 1955 by a group of parents of children with developmental disabilities. So little was known and few services existed. These parents joined together, advocated for educational entitlements, supported one another and became part of a national movement. Today, The Arc, Ocean County Chapter Inc. is a thriving organization which continues to provide strong advocacy along with extensive services to people with disabilities and their families. Separately incorporated as a private, nonprofit organization, The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, Inc. is affiliated with the state and national organizations of The Arc. This local Ocean County Chapter is dedicated to promoting and providing supports for all people with developmental disabilities throughout their lifespan. The Arc?s vision is that every individual and family affected by a developmental disability will have access to the information, advocacy, and the supports they need to fully participate as active members of the Ocean County community.
