Who We Are

Monmouth Family Health Center (MFHC) is a federally-qualified health center, a nonprofit organization with a mission of providing a growing number of medically underserved residents in the City of Long Branch and surrounding communities with high quality, comprehensive, affordable, culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate primary and preventative health care. The Center?s dedicated staff of medical professionals provide a wide range of preventative and therapeutic care including prenatal and gynecological care, pediatrics, adolescent and adult medicine, podiatry, HIV care, nutrition counseling, health education, childbirth education, social services and dental care. The Center is open Monday through Friday with some evening and Saturday hours for patient convenience. MFHC has over 60 professional and clerical staff and over 75 MMC residents on site. MFHC has over 13,000 patients on its roster with 43,000 visits annually.

What We Do

MFHC is the only ?safety-net? provider in Long Branch, and regarded as the Medical Home for the large uninsured and underinsured population in this area. No one is denied care based on one?s ability to pay. MFHC utilizes a sliding-fee scale based on income and number of family members. Patients are encouraged to be active participants in their health care and are asked for nominal co-pay based on the New Jersey sliding fee scale. However, those who cannot afford even a nominal co-pay are not turned away. In 2010, the Center provided services to more than 15,000 patients, an increase of 12.5% over the prior year. The average patient makes 4.5 visits to the Center each year. Currently, 56% of patients receive Medicaid benefits and 30% are self-pay/charity care patients. More than one-third of the patients served are children. ??MFHC is located in the heart of Long Branch, NJ, where residents are disproportionately poor, young, uninsured and members of minority groups. More than 35% of the City's population of 31,000+ lives at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty level. More than one-third of this population is under the age of 18. Roughly 34% of the city's population is Hispanic and nearly 10% is African-American. Spanish is spoken at home by 19% of the city's population over the age of 55 years. Although there are 40 primary health care providers locate near this population, most do not accept Medicaid or offer charity care.??Monmouth Family Health Center is comprised of three locations: 10,000 square-foot facility in downtown Long Branch, which is easily accessible by public transportation serving the adult and pediatric population; a 6,000 square foot facility housing the Women's Wellness Center providing obstetrics and gynecology services; and a 5,000 square foot dental center. ?
