Who We Are
The mission of the Spina Bifida Resource Network is to empower the lives of people with Spina Bfida and promote the prevention of Spina Bifida through advocacy, education, collaboration, public awareness, research and programs.
What We Do
The Spina Bifida Resource Network (SBRN) is the only organization in New Jersey and Metro New York that offers family support and nursing coordination services to individuals and families who live with Spina Bifida. Over 7,000 people in this region live with or are affected by Spina Bifida - a permanent birth defect that occurs two weeks after conception- a time when most women are not aware they are pregnant. SBRN advocates to women of childbearing age to increase their folic acid intake before conception and to take at least 400 mcg of folic acid multi vitamin to decrease this incident by up to 70%.
