Who We Are

The Vision of New Jersey Orators, Inc. is to produce confident youth with the ability to succeed. Our Mission is to teach the art of public speaking, an appreciation for literature, reading and media arts literacy, college readiness, and life skills to youth from 7 to 18 years of age in preparation for college.

What We Do

Aware that communications skills play a major role in achieving academic and career success, the Co-Founders formed this organization in 1985. We are convinced that language development can occur in a fun and informal atmosphere so we built a creative and yet effective program for youth.

That vision was recognized nationally as a worthy goal when New Jersey Orators, Inc. (NJO) became a recipient of the President Volunteer Service Gold Award in 2016; the President Points of Light Foundation Citation Award in 2006 for being ranked 31 out of 5,000 volunteer organizations across the nation and locally with the New Jersey Black Issues Conference Community Change Award in Education in 2015. We also were recognized by Manhattan Institute with their Social Entrepreneur Award.

As a total volunteer organization, our volunteer coaches work with all youth from ages 7 to 18, on a weekly basis throughout the school calendar year. We focus on developing the student's oral communications skills, along with improvement in reading and other related academic subjects.
