Who We Are

Our mission at Monmouth Cares is to facilitate positive change so that children with emotional and behavioral problems along with their families have the greatest opportunity to live, thrive, develop and lead as free and normal lives as possible in their communities.

What We Do

MonmouthCares, Inc., is a private non-profit agency that is part of the New Jersey Division of Behavioral Health Services (DCBHS) System of Care for Children. We are a Care Management Organization that uses a wraparound model to help children and families. Our mission is to facilitate positive change so that children with emotional and behavioral problems along with their families have the greatest opportunity to live, thrive, develop and lead as free and normal lives as possible in their communities. We help families build Child and Family Teams that help families both identify strengths and develop strategies to meet their needs. The System of Care is statewide with fifteen local systems of care serving all twenty-one counties in New Jersey. Each local system is comprised of similar elements: a statewide Contracted Systems Administrator; either a Care Management Organization and Youth Case Management, or in three counties Unified Care Management encompassing the roles of both; Mobile Response and Stabilization; a Family Support Organization; and, local providers of mental health/supportive services. DCBHS serves children and adolescents 5-21 with emotional and behavioral health challenges and their families. It is designed to build on the strengths of the child, the family, and the community and is family-driven, and focuses on keeping the child at home, in school and out of trouble. The Division of Child Behavioral Health Services is one of three core divisions of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) the others are: The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS); and, The Divison of Prevention and Community Partnership (DPCP). There is a single point of entry to the DCBHS System of Care: Call 1-877-652-7624 All referrals to the DCBHS System of Care are made through the Contracted System Administrator by calling 1-877-652-7624. A clinical assessment determines the level of care a child needs: stabilization to preserve the child?s residence; access to services that will be managed by the parent; case management to help the child and parent determine and use appropriate services; or, care management that helps a family create a Child and Family Team that assists the child and family in developing an Individual Service Plan for the child. Families may call the Family Support Organization directly without going through the Contracted System Administrator.
