The Salvation Army in Red Bank needs reliable volunteers who can help with the maintenance and operations of their year round food pantry. Specific duties and responsibilities include: help stock food pantry shelves; assist with food delivery; occasionally assist with food drives; check for expiration dates; keep food items in rotation; help stock the walk-in freezer; push a loaded shopping cart; package food items and occasionally assemble boxes.

Ideally volunteer is able to work with a diverse group of people. Volunteer must be able to read dates and product labels; (if able) to push a loaded flat-bed cart. If applicable, withstand cold temperatures within the walk-in freezer and dress accordingly. Please keep in mind. not all skills and qualifications are necessary to apply.

Volunteer hours can be flexible within the needed times. Tasks are assigned in strict adherence according to volunteer's abilities.

For those willing to be assigned to the walk-in freezer, dressing in layers for the cold is essential.

Contact with the clients is optional as there is plenty of work behind the scenes. 

Extra hours may be needed in the months of November and December.

 

 

The Salvation Army Red Bank Corps food pantry program greatly depends on the food items we receive from Fulfill, located in Neptune, NJ. Once a month, strong, able-bodied volunteers are needed to receive the food that is delivered from Fulfill's truck. Pallets of food arrive to our gym doors which then have to be transported to our food pantry and either stocked in shelves, placed in the commercial refrigerators or placed in our walk-in freezers. This role will receive on the spot instruction from the Manager-in-Charge of food pantry and will possess or be willing to learn food rotation methods. This role is instrumental in fighting hunger within the communities we serve. 

The right volunteer will:

help stock food pantry shelves; assist with food collection; occasionally assist with food drives; check for expiration dates; keep food items in rotation; help stock the walk-in freezer; help organize the walk-in freezer; package food items; break down boxes to be placed in the recycling bin. occasionally assemble boxes; be able to push a loaded flat-bed cart; be able to lift 50 lbs withstand cold temperatures within the walk-in freezer. understand and adhere to directions; be able to read dates and product labels; 

Ideally volunteer is able to work both within a team or solo.

For those assigned to the walk-in freezer, dressing in layers for the cold is essential.

 

 

The Salvation Army in Red Bank is currently seeking volunteer receptionists who can work at their front desk as a greeter and answer the phone from 9 AM-12 PM and/or 1 PM -4 PM. Duties and responsibilities include: greeting people as they approach the front desk; answer the telephones and direct calls internally or take messages; refer callers to other organizations and provide their telephone numbers; provide receipts for bin donations; get contact information for food donors and record donation value; make copies or file occasionally; update the bulletin board and organize the bookshelf; accept mail and keep the lobby tables and counter neat.

Volunteer must be able to work with a diverse group of people. Volunteer should also have good manners and a friendly demeanor; speak, read and write English; be neat in appearance; be service oriented and reliable. Volunteers who are bilingual are welcome.

Volunteer hours can be flexible within the needed times.

Not all skills and qualifications are necessary.

     

 

The Salvation Army Corps seeks a volunteer with a love for cooking and fellowship for our once-a-month Family Sundays, which take place after Sunday service, usually the third Sunday of the month.

This role is ideal for anyone studying the culinary arts and hoping to practice and hone in on their skills but also to anyone who has a love for feeding others and has enough skills to feed all those hungry mouths. Your love for cooking should be savored through your dishes. The role is open to both individuals and small teams; teams that fit comfortably into our commercial kitchen, which is the heart of our Fellowship Hall. Flexibility with menu choice and precautions to be mindful of food allergies is a must. Possible outdoor grilling during the warmer months.

Keeping the work area clean is a prerequisite. Volunteer Kitchen Assistant may or may not be available. 

Internship hours are available. Just point out your need for them and the documentation you will need to record your hours.

 

 

The Salvation Army Corps seeks a volunteer with a love for cooking and reaching hearts through their tummies. We provide hot cooked meals for our participants of the after school enrichment program from Monday through Thursday. With a small staff that is stretched out with duties which include transportation, homework help and leading the children into activities, ideally we would have someone focused specifically on preparing nutritious and delicious meals for 20+ children.

This role is ideal for anyone studying the culinary arts and hoping to practice and hone in on their skills but also to anyone who has a love for feeding others and has enough skills to feed all those hungry mouths. Children's After School Enrichment Program

Responsible To:  Afterschool Director

Schedule: Academic year 2018-2019, Monday – Thursday, 2:45-7:00 PM, minimum 1 day per week.

Qualifications:  Minimum of eighteen years of age.  Some experience working with children.  Desire and ability to work with children.

General Responsibilities:  Supervise children during youth program activities and assist Afterschool Director with implementation of daily program.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Spend each program day with children enrolled in the program. Assist children with homework as needed. Check that homework is complete and correct. Encourage reading during reading time. Be alert for matters that may affect child safety. Build positive relationships with the children. Encourage positive behavior. Set up and clean up facilities as required. Perform any other duties as required by the Afterschool Director to aid the program.
