There are many ways volunteers can help with scheduling events, contacting program participants, or assisting with follow up activities.

Volunteers are important contributors behind the scenes in many ways and can assist with clerical tasks in our offices, helping out on the phones, or with mailings.

Spending time visiting with patients in their home, hospital, or care facility.  These visits can include talking, reading, or just being there for companionship, watching TV or listening to the radio.

Have your dog certified and become a pet therapist. Travel to homes, nursing facilities, hospice care and medical facilities to share your dog's love and attention with those in need of TLC.

Organize a fund-raiser through your church, school, or community organization.

We are in need of volunteers willing to drive cancer patients to and from their cancer related appointments, ie. Doctors appointments, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. We have many patients that are either elderly, don't drive , have no family nearby to assist or are not feeling well enough themselves to drive.

Community Balance Foundation is looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist the fundraising team with coordinating fundraising events, getting the word out around the Long Branch community, and finding people/companies that are willing to donate time/money to the organization, sponsor an event, or become partners with CBF.

Do you love team sports? Team TSF was formed in 2010 when a mom decided to run the 2010 NJ Half Marathon. Instead of just running it for fun, she decided to build a team of people affected by Turner syndrome and raise funds for the Turner Syndrome Foundation. With a few phone calls to the event staff and many hours of organizing and recruiting, Turner Syndrome Foundation became an official charity. The Turner Syndrome Foundation runs in marathons all across the country. Volunteers signup to run as part of Team TSF. We are looking for coordinators to expand this outreach. Winter Volunteer Tutor Training  begins on Saturday January 20 through February 24, 2018 from 9:30 to 12:30 at the First United Methodist Church, 91 West Main St., Freehold, NJ.  We welcome adult volunteers who are 18 years or older who have a high school diploma.   All adults need to take our training (six sessions, 3 hours each session)  and they are then matched with adult students in 1-1 venues or small groups.

Provide general office and administrative support - staff reception desk, answer phone, return phone calls, file papers, do simple Information and Referrals for our consumers, conduct basic Internet research.

Support staff in providing assistance to all people with disabilities for a registered 501(c)3 non profit organization.

Hours will preferably be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Strong workers are needed for delivery days (2 per month) to help with unloading the Food Bank truck. This involves carrying boxes from the parking lot into the food pantry and help with stocking shelves. 

Drivers are needed to visit area grocery stores Monday through Friday, between 8am and 9am, to pick up produce and bread to deliver to Open Door between 9-9:30am. Station wagon, SUV or truck necessary. Drivers usually work one morning a week (more if desired) and it takes about one hour. Stores include ShopRite of Freehold, Battleview Orchards, Wegmans in Manalapan, and Starbucks.

Volunteers are needed to greet our clients and prepare food packages for distribution. Interaction with client involves determining eligibility, completing a computerized intake form, and determining dietary needs and preferences based on our current inventory. Volunteers then pack grocery bags with a nutritious variety of foods for the household.

Lunch Break is in need of a volunteer to staff our busy welcome desk one day a week. Duties include answering phones, addressing questions and keeping the flow moving! Become a part of the Ocean County Domestic Violence Response Teams and work in partnership with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, your local police department, and Providence House.  

The goal of the Domestic Violence Response Teams (DVRT) volunteer is to provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of domestic violence at the local police department. Volunteers assist victims in developing safety plans and provide necessary information and referrals. 

Volunteers are required to attend 40 hours of training.  All prospective volunteers undergo a background check and interview process, and must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid NJ driver's license, and available transportation.  Volunteers for the program must apply for the position before training begins.  For more information please call our DVRT Specialist at (732) 350-2120.

This opportunity involves helping to facilitate and assist with the conduct of various scheduled activities, including special presentations, activities, community events etc. Sample activities include health, diet, exercise, financial education, etc. As a volunteer you will attend the activity and support the staff and participants as needed, also allowing you to participate and learn about the topic at hand. The Care Giving Friends program partners with local churches to establish teams of volunteers to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to older adults in need of assistance. The team approach allows time flexibility for volunteers (typically 1-2 hours per month) while still providing a variety of services. Without this assistance, many older adults face losing their independence.

Love Thy Neighbor works with churches by training volunteers and helping to identify older adults in need. In addition, we act as a referral source for aging adults for resources with Monmouth County, including areas such as Medicare by offering free help to Medicare beneficiaries through a State Health Insurance Assistance (SHIA) Counselor.

In 2016, our Care Giving Friends volunteers donated 2,345 hours of transportation to the doctor, errands, grocery shopping, preparing meals, yard maintenance, visits and prayers for many older adults.

Travelers Aid Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a nonprofit organization whose staff and volunteers work together to assist passengers from around the world.

Travelers Aid Newark Liberty International Airport seeks to support airport passengers in a variety of capacities. In more complex cases, Travelers Aid staff is prepared to assist with social service referrals, resources and/or connecting individuals with support systems. Volunteers are the core resource of the Travelers Aid program. They lend their knowledge and experience to passengers by suggesting tourist information, giving maps/brochures and offering guidance on how to navigate the airport and the transit systems of New Jersey & New York. Travelers Aid volunteers receive a uniform, complimentary parking, food voucher and (in some cases) public transportation reimbursement. We ask our volunteers to share at least 1 day a week, 5 hours. Volunteer 5 hours shifts are 11:00 am to 4:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 7 days a week.

The social media coordinator will develop and implement a social media strategy to increase overall reach and brand awareness. We are looking for therapists in Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset and Mercer Counties.  We have patients located at many different facilities throughout these counties.

If you have a dog that has gone through a pet therapy program and is a certified pet therapy dog, we would love both of you to become a part of our team. Our pets visit patients in Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes and Private Residences. The bring a smile to the faces of everyone they come in contact with.
