Ascend Hospice is seeking compassionate individuals to join our End of Life Doula volunteer program. Our End of Life Doula program equips volunteers eager and willing to accompany the dying and their families, through an intensive, practically based model of care, preparing doulas to provide emotional and spiritual support and guidance in the final days of life. End of Life Doula Certificates are awarded once training and required service is completed.

Ascend Hospice is seeking Reiki Practitioners to volunteer their time to those in their community receiving hospice services. Reiki can assist with pain management, anxiety, emotional release and much more. It is a wonderful modality to use during end of life care.

Hospice training is provided and a commitment of 1 year is preferred.

Assist the SCAN Office Manager with light office work including typing letters, basic spreadsheets, filing and making phone calls for upcoming events.

iCan Bike Lincroft needs volunteers spotters to help a child with a disability learn to ride a conventional two wheeled bike.  Camp runs from August 12-16, 2019.   Spotters are responsible for coordinating with parents and bike camp staff, physically spotting their rider as they learn balance, steering, stopping, etc., and perhaps most important of all, providing encouragement support and enthusiasm as part of your rider's team!

Many kids with disabilities never learn to ride a bike. This program provides them the opportunity to learn a skill many of us take for granted. You will become part of a team that works with the same rider each day. Come be part of an extraordinary experience that changes the lives of the kids and their families!

This is an opportunity for a group of volunteers that wants to do spruce up projects at one of NJID's adult day program locations or at an adult or teen residential home. Projects may include light landscaping, seasonal planting and decorating, interior and exterior window washing, dusting and polishing furniture and organizing cabinets or storages areas. NJID's group homes provide personal assistance and medical oversight for adults requiring specialized care. We also operate three homes that provide compassionate care for teens with disabilities.

Instead of just running it for fun, she decided to build a team of people affected by Turner syndrome and raise funds for the Turner Syndrome Foundation. Strong workers are needed for delivery days (2 per month) to help with unloading the Food Bank truck. This involves carrying boxes from the parking lot into the food pantry and help with stocking shelves. 

Drivers are needed to visit area grocery stores Monday through Friday, between 8am and 9am, to pick up produce and bread to deliver to Open Door between 9-9:30am. Station wagon, SUV or truck necessary. Drivers usually work one morning a week (more if desired) and it takes about one hour. Stores include ShopRite of Freehold, Battleview Orchards, Wegmans in Manalapan, and Starbucks.

Volunteers are needed to greet our clients and prepare food packages for distribution. Interaction with client involves determining eligibility, completing a computerized intake form, and determining dietary needs and preferences based on our current inventory. Volunteers then pack grocery bags with a nutritious variety of foods for the household.

Lunch Break is in need of a volunteer to staff our busy welcome desk one day a week. Duties include answering phones, addressing questions and keeping the flow moving! Become a part of the Ocean County Domestic Violence Response Teams and work in partnership with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, your local police department, and Providence House.  

The goal of the Domestic Violence Response Teams (DVRT) volunteer is to provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of domestic violence at the local police department. Volunteers assist victims in developing safety plans and provide necessary information and referrals. 

Volunteers are required to attend 40 hours of training.  All prospective volunteers undergo a background check and interview process, and must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid NJ driver's license, and available transportation.  Volunteers for the program must apply for the position before training begins.  For more information please call our DVRT Specialist at (732) 350-2120.

The Care Giving Friends program partners with local churches to establish teams of volunteers to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to older adults in need of assistance. The team approach allows time flexibility for volunteers (typically 1-2 hours per month) while still providing a variety of services. Without this assistance, many older adults face losing their independence.

Love Thy Neighbor works with churches by training volunteers and helping to identify older adults in need. In addition, we act as a referral source for aging adults for resources with Monmouth County, including areas such as Medicare by offering free help to Medicare beneficiaries through a State Health Insurance Assistance (SHIA) Counselor.

In 2016, our Care Giving Friends volunteers donated 2,345 hours of transportation to the doctor, errands, grocery shopping, preparing meals, yard maintenance, visits and prayers for many older adults.

If you own a certified pet therapy dog, you and your dog can bring joy and comfort to senior citizens through Caregiver Canines, a wonderful new program in Ocean County offered through the non-profit agency Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ). Please consider volunteering your pet to help. Everyone will benefit.
You and your dog will be matched with a senior citizen to make friendly home visits at times that are convenient for you. These visits will bring great joy and a well-documented role in reducing stress, improving the health and self-esteem of seniors and most importantly helping the elderly cope with loss and loneliness.  Check out the video

Are you a member of a local parent's group, PTA, or other educational/family oriented group?  As a parent, you know that today's young people face a tremendous number of challenges.  Help us spread the worked, part to parent, about the valuable sere 2NDFLOOR provides and young person 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

If you have talent, like to entertain, or would just like to raise money for a great cause, consider becoming a 2NDFLOOR "Host" there are so many unique ways to fundraise--sue one of ours or create your own.

Help us spread the word about 2NDFLOOR! As a Street Team Leader, you will become a "voice" for 2NDFLOOR in your school and community.  Write an article or create a 2NDFLOOR advertisement for your local or school newspaper, hand out 2NDFLOOR items at a community even, even introduce your coaches and teacher to 2NDFLOOR.

Help the girls explore nature and find the fun outdoors.

Mentor adult volunteers as they work with Girl Scouts to create memories they will never forget.

Coordinate the annual cookie sale at the troop level.  Set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and then watch the girls light up when they earn the rewards for being the best cookie sellers ever!

Assist with driving, activity planning, snacks, money management, or other tasks necessary to keep the troop running oh-so-smoothly.

Work with a group of girls and mentor them as they make new friends and development connections that will last a lifetime.

You will be working along side our office staff. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to get real life office experience or need to do internship hours for school.

Travelers Aid Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a nonprofit organization whose staff and volunteers work together to assist passengers from around the world.

Travelers Aid Newark Liberty International Airport seeks to support airport passengers in a variety of capacities. In more complex cases, Travelers Aid staff is prepared to assist with social service referrals, resources and/or connecting individuals with support systems. Volunteers are the core resource of the Travelers Aid program. They lend their knowledge and experience to passengers by suggesting tourist information, giving maps/brochures and offering guidance on how to navigate the airport and the transit systems of New Jersey & New York. If you enjoys and have that kind hear for helping people, have the patients and listening skills to problem solving and enjoy meeting people from around the world, then this volunteer opportunity is for you.

Travelers Aid volunteers receive a uniform, complimentary parking, food voucher and (in some cases) public transportation reimbursement. We ask our volunteers to share at least 1 day a week, 5 hours. Volunteer 5 hours shifts are 11:00 am to 4:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 7 days a week.

We also are looking for groups to adopt one of our homes, which would entail coming to the home they “adopt” 2-3 times each year to do weeding, yard clean up, plant flowers, etc. and interact with our residents. This is a great opportunity for groups or teams to create a legacy to pass on from year to year while helping us maintain the exteriors of our homes. Opportunities available throughout Ocean County.
