The Fix-It Program goal is to assist elderly residents of Ocean County to remain independent in their own home by performing minor home repairs which, if neglected, would adversely affect their health and/or safety. Services are provided by volunteer handy persons who perform household repairs and one time chores at no cost to the elderly resident. However, the elderly resident is expected to pay for materials, if necessary. Fix-It Program volunteers do minor plumbing, minor carpentry, minor electrical, install safety hand rails, install curtain and drapery hardware, change light bulbs, replace batteries in smoke detectors, change storm windows and doors. The volunteers do the same work they would normally do around their own homes, nothing more. We are always seeking volunteers with varying levels of skills. CASA of Ocean County recognizes the problem of child abuse and neglect and is committed to helping its victims; the children living in our communities. Child abuse hurts children physically, mentally, and emotionally at an immeasurable loss to society.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ocean County recruits, trains, supports and supervises community volunteers that advocate for children who have been removed from their home due to neglect or abuse.

CASA volunteers ensure children’s best interest remain the priority while working toward establishing a safe, stable, and permanent home for each child served. Volunteers improve the quality of information presented to the Court by serving as an independent set of eyes and ears for the Judge. Due to these uncertain times, we have an even high need for volunteers right now. Some of our survivors are at a higher risk for contracting the virus, and those that are going through treatment now are having difficulties getting to their treatment. We need your help to make outreach to our survivors and participants from the American Cancer Society events to check in on them. You would be making calls and sending emails to team Leaders and other participants in the New Jersey area to see how they are, if they have questions and if there is anything we can do to help them.

Plus, we also share information and decisions made from the American Cancer Society to our participants; however, they need to be registered for an event in order to receive the education and updates. You will be reaching out via phone to have them register.

Bring your specialized, deep experience to help small business entrepreneurs achieve success. Today’s small business owners must master many functions to drive greater success and accelerate growth - from building world-class websites to leveraging the power of social media and implementing cloud computing.

As part of SCORE’s free mentoring services, you can work directly with an experienced SCORE mentor and their entrepreneur clients to support very specialized areas of small business. As a Subject Matter Expert Mentors (SME), you would be an adjunct expert called in to provide specialized support and advice to assist a SCORE mentor when their client needs a deeper dive on a specific topic.

Areas where specialized SME services are needed include (but are not limited to): finance, accounting, human resources management, website design, development, and webmaster skills; social media and digital marketing skills; taxation and specialized finance skills; IT infrastructure and cloud computing understanding and advice.

SCORE needs bi-lingual mentors who can help aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners whose first language is not English by providing business expertise, support, and the necessary tools to help them reach their goals.

As a mentor you will use your industry-based knowledge and expertise to help clients solve problems, increase business efficiency, and assist with developing long-term business plans. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a week.

Here’s how it works:

* Volunteers will receive flyers & collection bags to help support the event.
* Next, the flyers can be stapled onto the bags. All bags are distributed by volunteers around their local communities/neighborhoods.
* On a designated day & time, neighbors are encouraged to leave out food donations on their 'front porches.’ Volunteers will walk around the participating neighborhood(s) and collect the bags filled with donations that were left out.
* All bags collected can be then transported to the previously chosen food bank. Based on your location, amount of food collected and transportation volunteers' availability, Move For Hunger can assist with transportation of all the food to the food bank.
* Move For Hunger will provide the volunteers with the Hunger Fighting Hero Award Certificate, stating the impact and the number of pounds collected, as well as meals provided.

Move For Hunger is looking for a few individuals near our home office to help us put together Welcome Kits for our growing network of apartment communities.

What’s A "Welcome Kit"?

A Welcome Kit provides apartments new to our network: a brief introduction to the program and the donation bags they will use to collect items from residents.

Once 3-5 bags are collected from the property, transport is provided to a local food bank from one of our dedicated moving company volunteers.

We are in need of 2-4 volunteers to help paint one of our large cows.  The cow will be painted white with our logo.  You will need artist skills for this event. The dates and times for this activity are flexible.

The soap sacks are made with cotton yarn, which allow them to be used as washcloths as well.  S.A.C.K. is looking for folks to join us in knitting or crocheting a sack for soap to donate to groups and facilities in need. Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic we are looking for volunteers to call our seniors and have a friendly conversation.  Please call 609-978-6868 to help. 

The Salvation Army in Red Bank needs reliable volunteers who can help with the maintenance and operations of their year round food pantry. Specific duties and responsibilities include: help stock food pantry shelves; assist with food delivery; occasionally assist with food drives; check for expiration dates; keep food items in rotation; help stock the walk-in freezer; push a loaded shopping cart; package food items and occasionally assemble boxes.

Ideally volunteer is able to work with a diverse group of people. Volunteer must be able to read dates and product labels; (if able) to push a loaded flat-bed cart. If applicable, withstand cold temperatures within the walk-in freezer and dress accordingly. Please keep in mind. not all skills and qualifications are necessary to apply.

Volunteer hours can be flexible within the needed times. Tasks are assigned in strict adherence according to volunteer's abilities.

For those willing to be assigned to the walk-in freezer, dressing in layers for the cold is essential.

Contact with the clients is optional as there is plenty of work behind the scenes. 

Extra hours may be needed in the months of November and December.

The Salvation Army Red Bank Corps food pantry program greatly depends on the food items we receive from Fulfill, located in Neptune, NJ. Once a month, strong, able-bodied volunteers are needed to receive the food that is delivered from Fulfill's truck. Pallets of food arrive to our gym doors which then have to be transported to our food pantry and either stocked in shelves, placed in the commercial refrigerators or placed in our walk-in freezers. This role will receive on the spot instruction from the Manager-in-Charge of food pantry and will possess or be willing to learn food rotation methods. This role is instrumental in fighting hunger within the communities we serve. 

The right volunteer will:

Ideally volunteer is able to work both within a team or solo. 

Volunteer hours can be flexible within the needed times. Tasks assigned according to volunteer's abilities.

For those assigned to the walk-in freezer, dressing in layers for the cold is essential.

The Salvation Army in Red Bank is currently seeking volunteer receptionists who can work at their front desk as a greeter and answer the phone from 9 AM-12 PM and/or 1 PM -4 PM. Duties and responsibilities include: greeting people as they approach the front desk; answer the telephones and direct calls internally or take messages; refer callers to other organizations and provide their telephone numbers; provide receipts for bin donations; get contact information for food donors and record donation value; make copies or file occasionally; update the bulletin board and organize the bookshelf; accept mail and keep the lobby tables and counter neat.

Volunteer must be able to work with a diverse group of people. Volunteer should also have good manners and a friendly demeanor; speak, read and write English; be neat in appearance; be service oriented and reliable. Volunteers who are bilingual are welcome.

This role is ideal for anyone studying the culinary arts and hoping to practice and hone in on their skills but also to anyone who has a love for feeding others and has enough skills to feed all those hungry mouths. Your love for cooking should be savored through your dishes. The role is open to both individuals and small teams; teams that fit comfortably into our commercial kitchen, which is the heart of our Fellowship Hall. Flexibility with menu choice and precautions to be mindful of food allergies is a must. Possible outdoor grilling during the warmer months.

Keeping the work area clean is a prerequisite. Volunteer Kitchen Assistant may or may not be available. 

Internship hours are available. Just point out your need for them and the documentation you will need to record your hours.

Schedule: Academic year 2018-2019, Monday – Thursday, 2:45-7:00 PM, minimum 1 day per week.

Qualifications:  Minimum of eighteen years of age.  Some experience working with children.  Desire and ability to work with children.

General Responsibilities:  Supervise children during youth program activities and assist Afterschool Director with implementation of daily program.

Specific Responsibilities:

Volunteers needed to assist with daily operating tasks.  

Volunteers are needed to complete client intake on computer system.  Program is easy to learn and volunteers will be trained.  Ideally, volunteers would work one two hour shift per week.  Same day/time slot each week. 

Mentoring a child only takes a few hours a month, and the experience will enrich your life. There are no special skills required to be a trusted friend, just 4-6 hours a month, for a minimum of 1 year. Our experienced staff will be with you along the way and provide continual support.

Ascend Hospice is seeking compassionate individuals to join our End of Life Doula volunteer program. Our End of Life Doula program equips volunteers eager and willing to accompany the dying and their families, through an intensive, practically based model of care, preparing doulas to provide emotional and spiritual support and guidance in the final days of life. End of Life Doula Certificates are awarded once training and required service is completed.

Ascend Hospice is seeking Reiki Practitioners to volunteer their time to those in their community receiving hospice services. Reiki can assist with pain management, anxiety, emotional release and much more. It is a wonderful modality to use during end of life care.

Hospice training is provided and a commitment of 1 year is preferred.

Assist the SCAN Office Manager with light office work including typing letters, basic spreadsheets, filing and making phone calls for upcoming events.

SCAN members enjoy being greeted with a friendly smile and by a helpful person to answer their questions.  This position also helps with answering the phones, and filling out registration forms.

Our volunteers provide free transportation (in your own vehicle) to medical appointments for the elderly in Monmouth & Ocean County who do not drive. Want to make a positive impact on the lives of many, in as little as 1-2 hours a month? Volunteer training and insurance provided. Transportation is generally scheduled Monday through Friday from 9am-3pm and coordinated through our Monmouth and Ocean offices.

iCan Bike Lincroft needs volunteers spotters to help a child with a disability learn to ride a conventional two wheeled bike.  Camp runs from August 12-16, 2019.   Spotters are responsible for coordinating with parents and bike camp staff, physically spotting their rider as they learn balance, steering, stopping, etc., and perhaps most important of all, providing encouragement support and enthusiasm as part of your rider's team!

Many kids with disabilities never learn to ride a bike. This program provides them the opportunity to learn a skill many of us take for granted. You will become part of a team that works with the same rider each day. Come be part of an extraordinary experience that changes the lives of the kids and their families!

 Volunteers may sign up for one or more 75 minute sessions from 8:30am-5:00pm. Volunteers are requested to choose a session time that works for your schedule and commit to come each day at that time. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of The HOPE Center. Thanks to their energy, compassion, and time, we have been able to extend hope and support throughout Ocean County.  Help our cause by assisting with grant research and writing.

This is an opportunity for a group of volunteers that wants to do spruce up projects at one of NJID's adult day program locations or at an adult or teen residential home. Projects may include light landscaping, seasonal planting and decorating, interior and exterior window washing, dusting and polishing furniture and organizing cabinets or storages areas. Residential homes are located in several counties so please indicate your location when responding to the opportunity posting.

NJID's group homes provide personal assistance and medical oversight for adults requiring specialized care. We also operate three homes that provide compassionate care for teens with disabilities.

NJID adult day facilities provide comprehensive services for adults with disabilities including meaningful personal development services and vocational and job readiness training. Adult programs are located in Edison, Port Reading, Piscataway, Toms River and Barnegat. Please mention your location when responding to the post.

There are many ways volunteers can help with scheduling events, contacting program participants, or assisting with follow up activities.

We are in need of volunteers willing to drive cancer patients to and from their cancer related appointments, ie. Doctors appointments, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. We have many patients that are either elderly, don't drive , have no family nearby to assist or are not feeling well enough themselves to drive.

Community Balance Foundation is looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist the fundraising team with coordinating fundraising events, getting the word out around the Long Branch community, and finding people/companies that are willing to donate time/money to the organization, sponsor an event, or become partners with CBF.

Mentors improve the well-being of the child by being constructive role models and consistent friends that can support the child academically, socially and/or personally.

Do you love team sports? Team TSF was formed in 2010 when a mom decided to run the 2010 NJ Half Marathon. Instead of just running it for fun, she decided to build a team of people affected by Turner syndrome and raise funds for the Turner Syndrome Foundation. With a few phone calls to the event staff and many hours of organizing and recruiting, Turner Syndrome Foundation became an official charity. The Turner Syndrome Foundation runs in marathons all across the country. Volunteers signup to run as part of Team TSF. We are looking for coordinators to expand this outreach. Running for Team TSF will help to support girls and women affected by Turner Syndrome.

Winter Volunteer Tutor Training  begins on Saturday January 20 through February 24, 2018 from 9:30 to 12:30 at the First United Methodist Church, 91 West Main St., Freehold, NJ.  We welcome adult volunteers who are 18 years or older who have a high school diploma.   All adults need to take our training (six sessions, 3 hours each session)  and they are then matched with adult students in 1-1 venues or small groups.

Your role as a "New Jersey Orator Judge" is critical to the success of our oratorical and reading literacy program. You are responsible for providing independent, unbiased critiques to our Orator students who have demonstrated to you at competition their public speaking skills. We train all our New Jersey Orators Judges.

Assist/Facilitate/Participate in Adult Coloring Sessions for and with our consumers.
Assist our staff members by helping select and arrange session materials, assist the consumers during the session and help the class clean up and put supplies away afterwords.

Sessions are scheduled weekly - every Thursday 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM .
The actual sessions are 10:30 - 11:30, with 30 minutes added on for the volunteer period to help prepare and clean up.

Typical sessions have 5 - 10 consumers.

Embracing HospiceCare is seeking Veteran Volunteers to meet the special needs of terminally ill Veteran hospice patients. Veteran volunteers provide companionship, respite, emotional and spiritual support for patients and families.  Veteran volunteers add a special dimension to Embracing HospiceCare's work. Provide general office and administrative support - staff reception desk, answer phone, return phone calls, file papers, do simple Information and Referrals for our consumers, conduct basic Internet research.

Support staff in providing assistance to all people with disabilities for a registered 501(c)3 non profit organization.

Hours will preferably be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Strong workers are needed for delivery days (2 per month) to help with unloading the Food Bank truck. This involves carrying boxes from the parking lot into the food pantry and help with stocking shelves. 

Drivers are needed to visit area grocery stores Monday through Friday, between 8am and 9am, to pick up produce and bread to deliver to Open Door between 9-9:30am. Station wagon, SUV or truck necessary. Drivers usually work one morning a week (more if desired) and it takes about one hour. Stores include ShopRite of Freehold, Battleview Orchards, Wegmans in Manalapan, and Starbucks.

Volunteers are needed to greet our clients and prepare food packages for distribution. Interaction with client involves determining eligibility, completing a computerized intake form, and determining dietary needs and preferences based on our current inventory. Volunteers then pack grocery bags with a nutritious variety of foods for the household.

Lunch Break is in need of a volunteer to staff our busy welcome desk one day a week. Duties include answering phones, addressing questions and keeping the flow moving!
