Opportunities From: United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties

Our volunteers provide free transportation (in your own vehicle) to medical appointments for the elderly in Monmouth & Ocean County who do not drive. Want to make a positive impact on the lives of many, in as little as 1-2 hours a month? Volunteer training and insurance provided. Transportation is generally scheduled Monday through Friday from 9am-3pm and coordinated through our Monmouth and Ocean offices. 

CVCJ IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER VETERANS IN ASBURY PARK, MONMOUTH COUNTY TO JOIN OUR VETERAN TO VETERAN PROGRAM. These volunteers will assist with transportation to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, friendly visits, and friendly phone calls. We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist the frail, elderly with simple daily tasks, allowing them to remain in their own homes. Volunteers drive to doctor appointments, go grocery shopping, make friendly visits and more. As little as 1-2 hours per month is all that is required to brighten someone's life. If you own a certified pet therapy dog, you and your dog can bring joy and comfort to senior citizens through Caregiver Canines, a wonderful new program in Ocean County offered through the non-profit agency Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ). Please consider volunteering your pet to help. Everyone will benefit.
You and your dog will be matched with a senior citizen to make friendly home visits at times that are convenient for you. These visits will bring great joy and a well-documented role in reducing stress, improving the health and self-esteem of seniors and most importantly helping the elderly cope with loss and loneliness.  Check out the video
