Who We Are

Founded in Newark in 1880, The Salvation Army New Jersey Division has been 'Doing the Most Good' statewide. The Divisional Headquarters is located in Union, NJ and oversees all operations and programs for service-providing units of The Salvation Army throughout the State of New Jersey. To effectively minister and serve within such a large area, the New Jersey Division has 29 Corps Worship & Community Centers which are the most basic service components of The Salvation Army, providing religious and social services adapted to the needs of their communities. The New Jersey Division also has the Hazlet Long-Term Case Management Center, Salem County Service Center, one residential camp (Tecumseh) in Pittstown, NJ, three shelters (Elizabeth, Montclair and Perth Amboy) and 101 active service units (comprised of approximately 500 volunteers who administer Salvation Army services where there is no Army facility). In addition to Corps Worship & Community Centers and service extension units, there are four Adult Rehabilitation Centers and 19 Salvation Army Family (or Thrift) Stores. Proceeds from Family Stores support the Adult Rehabilitation Centers throughout the state.
