Who We Are

The mission of Collier Youth Services is to provide at-risk youth a chance to grow toward their potential in an environment that promotes belonging, dignity, and hope. The mission is based on a philosophy of deep respect for the inherent worth of each individual and the belief in the capacity for personal change that is consistent with the ministry of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd.

What We Do

Our Middle and High schools are state-approved, private, non-profit schools for students with disabilities whose needs cannot be met within the public school. Collier's strong counseling component combines individual as well as group therapy that supports social and emotional growth for all students. Our Transition program serves students who have completed all of their high school graduation requirements but would benefit from support in enhancing their professional skills, college and/or vocational preparedness, and life-skills to increase independence and employability. Our residential programs provide a safe haven for adolescent girls and young women who have survived trauma, abuse, or neglect. The Collier Residential Program addresses the immediate needs for safe housing and food security while providing in-depth counseling and life skills training with the goal of reuniting with their family or transitioning to independent living. Our summer program, Kateri Day Camp, is a full-day, seven-week summer camp serving children ages 5-13. Our campership program for financial assistance and our acceptance of child care funding helps campers participate in all 7 weeks of camp. The Collier Collaborative Partnership program assists local high schools in strengthening their therapeutic support programs for students. Through this partnership, the clinical staff of the Collier High School social services department travels to local schools to provide individual and group therapy to students, allowing them to receive an outpatient therapy experience in the comfort of their own school. Since sessions take place during the school day, it enables students to receive the help they need without interfering with extracurricular activities or issues with transportation. Additionally, the clinicians are available to provide professional development to staff at the local schools in order to help further their knowledge of specific mental health issues and how to best support their student population.
